"Prepare to meet your maker."
That's the thought that must have flashed through the feeble mind of the genius who brought a gun with him to a store selling Sony Playstations. You see, people were lined up outside a Wal-Mart in Putnam, Conn., and two wise-guys got the idea to rob Playstation fanatics while they waited. One man refused to hand over his money and was shot and wounded. The bandits figured some of the line-goers would be carring near $600 in cash, which is about what the gaming platform cost.
This is not the first time that highly-popular-yet-short-in-supply items have caused injury or fracases to ensue. Last holiday season people were trampled running into a Wal-Mart to get limited quantity laptops being sold for low prices.
I must be out of the loop. I have never waited in line for anything, even items/tickets that I was salivating over. I just don't have that mentality, I guess. Have any of you ever braved cold weather, rain and the wisecracks from passers-by while waiting for [insert desired item here]?
I always figure I can get whatever It is on eBay.
Is a game console really worth a life?
